Servers & Latency
How regional servers work and how to pick the best one for your connection.
Overview
Solwagers runs regional game servers so that moves, timers, and chat messages sync as fast as possible. When you're wagering real money, every millisecond matters — especially in timed chess games.
Choosing a Server
You can switch servers from the status bar at the bottom of the screen. A dropdown lists all available servers by region. Pick the one closest to your physical location for the lowest latency.
Best Practice
Choose a server that's geographically close to you. If you're in Europe, pick an EU server. If you're in North America, pick a US server, and so on. Lower ping means smoother gameplay.
Latency Indicator
During a game, the status bar shows a live latency indicator with your current ping to the server. The connection quality is colour-coded:
- •Green — excellent connection (low ping)
- •Yellow — acceptable connection (moderate ping)
- •Red — poor connection (high ping)
High Latency Warning
If your ping is consistently high, consider switching to a closer server before starting a wager match. High latency can cause move delays in chess and affect timer accuracy.
